About Us
Bede Neves
For several years my husband Bede owned his own painting company, but his favorite job was being a boy’s dean at two academies (coming from a family of fifteen children I believe he felt right at home). He also worked at Pacific Press Publishing for about ten years. God has gifted him with a beautiful voice, and he plays the guitar by ear which has a sweet Hawaiian flare and has sung in many churches.
One day, I asked Bede to write me a song about Psalms 91, and in the morning, he said, I did it! The song wasn’t long, but it was beautiful. We didn’t know God had a gift that was just waiting to be discovered. It was like you just found a buried treasure chest filled with beautiful things and opened it for the first time. God began to give him a tune and then the words for many beautiful songs of which most of them are Bible ballads. What I find about his music is that he has a way of making you feel you are there watching it happen. Here is an example of part of his song In a Little Manger.
In the town of Bethlehem
Born a precious baby,
The Saviour of men
Praise the LORD!
The angels shout glory!
Praise the LORD!
The nativity story,
He is born.
As he sat at mother’s knee
Then went through his town,
Helping all that he could see,
Praise the LORD!
Brought the message from glory
Praise the LORD!
Let’s go tell the gospel story
Thank you, LORD.
When He played with His friends
Shares the stories that He’s learned.
Like the faithful three Hebrews
That wouldn’t bow, but didn’t burn!
Praise the LORD!
Love to hear His Bible Stories.
Praise the LORD!
Taught the blessing of God’s glory!
Thank you Lord.
After my husband put together many beautiful songs, we thought they should be recorded. We searched and found a recording studio which was not too expensive. Bede sang his Bible ballads, and the studio recorded them. Then he had us pick out three songs. When we came back to the next appointment, Bede’s guitar playing was replaced with some beautiful music in the background. We were very happy with what the studio did.
The consistent thing people mention about Bede’s CD, “The Way Home”, is that it is very soothing. You can listen to some samples and order a CD at letsgohomeministry.org.
Lareda Neves
One day when I was at worship, the idea came to my mind to pray that God would show me how to study the Bible. It did not happen that day, but I kept praying about this matter. A few days later, as I was reading a verse that had the word grace in it, the thought came to my mind, “What does the word grace mean?” At that time, I did not know what it meant. I knew it was something good, but I could not tell you exactly what it meant. Then God impressed me to take the concordance, which is an index to the Bible, and look up all the verses that use the word grace.
NOTE: In the following verses, I have added the dictionary meaning behind many of the words. It will look like this: Unto [to]. The word in brackets is the dictionary meaning. I have also marked who is doing the talking. Moses is talked about in the peach color and LORD is blue.
Read the verses without the dictionary meanings which are in brackets if you understand it. If you don’t understand it, read the dictionary meanings behind the words you read.
Why Our Ministry Exists
When God began to teach me how to study the Bible, He also convinced me that I had to share what He taught me. One day I shared what I was learning with a husband and a wife. When I finished, the husband said to me, “You didn’t give me fish. You taught me how to fish.” This was exactly what I wanted to do!
We are told in Acts 17:10-11 that we should be like the Bereans.
How the Bible Was Given to the World
Here is One Way to Study the Bible:
In other words, the Bible will interpret itself. When you study the prophecies, God will explain them through the Word of God itself!
To Give You an Illustration of What This Means
By gathering all the information on a subject to weigh up all the evidence. How do you do it if all you know is to just read the Bible? If you wanted to study the subject of angel(s), would you know how to do it? Would you know how to find the links in your studies? This is the kind of information you will learn about in The Principles of Bible Study.
